Thursday, March 11
I gave a map assignment today.  It is not due until Friday, March 26.  The instructions are below as are the questions that need to be answered after the mapwork has been completed.  I also continued with the notes on Latin America's Challenges today.

Latin America's Challenges notes today (see notes page).  Also, they are to read p. 960-965, 29.1 in the text for this unit.

Friday, March 5
I talked about the project for a while at the beginning of class.  We then talked current events for the remainder of the period.

Thursday, March 4
We were in the library today working on semester projects.

Wednesday, March 3
We spent today in the library beginning the semester project (see link below for instructions).  Students chose topics to present on or chose to do a "B" project which is a series of article reviews.  The last day to change topics or project choices will be Friday, March 12.

Tuesday, March 2
Latin America History Test today.  All make-up for this unit is due by tomorrow.

Monday, March 1
Today was a review day.  Students had time to ask questions about the unit review, we talked about the essay question and I talked about a couple of items from 25.4.

Friday, February 26
Current events to start the period.  We continued with U.S. foreign policy.  Students need to read 25.4 before Tuesday's test.
  I changed the test date to Tuesday instead of Monday.

Thursday, February 25
Students took a quiz over Latin America's Independence.  They chose their essay question for Monday's test.  We then talked about the Monroe Doctrine as a part of U.S. foreign policy as it effects Latin America.
 

Wednesday, February 24
Today was the last day of the quarter to hand in late current events for the first quarter.  We will start over again with the next quarter for current events.  We finished the notes today over Latin American Independence.  After the notes, we discussed a few items from the 21.4 study guide.
 

Tuesday, February 23
I finished the notes on Latin American Independence today.  Assignment for tomorrow is to read chapter 21, section 4 and do the study guide (see link below for a copy).  I also handed out the unit review that can be done for 10 points extra credit.  It is due on the day of the test.

Monday, February 22
We reviewed the Latin America social ladder at the beginning of the class.  I then started the lecture on Latin American Independence.  See notes page for the link to the notes.

Friday, February 19
Current events to start the day.  We then worked on the Latin American Social Ladder.  Students handed in their assignments from Wednesday.

Thursday, February 18
Today we talked about social classes in the United States to create a contrast for the social ladder in Latin America that we will put together tomorrow.  We also discussed the questions from yesterday's assignment.

Wednesday, February 17
Today we finished the Overseas Empires Chart together.  Then they received an assignment.  It is to read p. 444-447 and do questions #1-7.  For #1, they DO NOT have to do Brazil, labor or Juana Inez de la Cruz.

Tuesday, February 16
Today we did a review activity utilitizing cell phones at the beginning of class.  Next we worked on the Overseas Empires chart together but did not finish.
 

Monday, February 15
Today the students filled out a chart called the Overseas Empires Chart in class together.  I also gave them a couple of notes to put on the back of the chart about the Line of Demarcation and the Treaty of Tordesillas.

Thursday, February 11
Quiz over Early American Civ. notes today.  We then did an activity about Christopher Columbus.

Wednesday, February 10
Finished Early American Civilization notes today.
 

Monday, February 8
Early American Civilizations notes again today.

Friday, February 5
Current events to begin the hour.  I then continued the lecture on Early American Civilizations. 

Thursday, February 4
We finished up the group activity today.  I then started the lecture on Early American Civilizations (see notes page).

Wednesday, February 3
Today the crossword puzzles were due.  Students were given another student's crossword to complete for tomorrow.  There was a group activity the remainder of the period.

Tuesday, February 2
Today we finished up the Prehistory "Quiz" and moved on to another activity in class.  Crosswords described in yesterday's summary are due tomorrow.

Monday, February 1
The students took a map quiz over the countries of Central and South America.  Then they received an assignment to make a crossword puzzle over chapter 11, sections 2&3.  They are to pick out 15 names, places, terms or events that seem important and create a crossword puzzle out of them.  Below is a link to a puzzle maker that many students have used in the past.  We then started on a "quiz" about some preshistoric events that will lead us into our first unit.

Friday, January 29
Current events to begin the period.  We then finished the map activity from yesterday.  Quiz on Monday, Feb. 1 over the 8 countries of Central America and 13 countries of South America.  Students will only have to label the countries for the quiz.
